Please take the following note for what it is intended, a request for a feature and not a jab a K9. I fully appreciate a corporation offering free software to help parents protect our children on the internet... and whole heartily say "Thank you!".
The first thing I did after installing K9 was look for customization controls by Windows login. I must admit I was surprised that K9 did not contain this functionality. To me having this type of flexibility is fundamental and should be considered part of web Protection 101. It would be like having a fire wall where you can only create a single rule for everything and no customization by port or IP address. Just does not make sense.
I understand that many home PC's still may operate under a single login but I feel that a lot of this is not because they do not NEED to customize there Online experience by user but rather they do not know better. There are a lot of sites used daily by adults that are fun and even educational but they are still no place for children, especially young children.
On the other hand I understand the extreme importance protection against Chat is in todays world. I also agree that if you had to choose one to work on, the chat protection has to take priority.
So with that, I will keep K9 running for now to at least provide minimal protection. I'm looking forward to future release that contains this functionality... hopefully it's sooner rather than later
Until K9 is upgraded I may need to re-visit some of the other Parental Control software and Internet Security Suites that offer more robust controls and configurations. One thing for sure though, they cannot beat K9's price
